Dr. Nedra S. Kinerk Emerging Leaders Scholarship – Now Accepting Applications!
Futuro RGV is proud to announce the Dr. Nedra S. Kinerk Emerging Leaders Scholarship, a $1,000 award designed to support the next generation of leaders in the Rio Grande Valley.
This scholarship will be presented to one outstanding student at the Futuro RGV Emerging Leader event in May or June 2026 (exact date to be announced soon).
Who Can Apply?
- Currently enrolled in a 2-year college (part-time or full-time), 4-year college (full-time), or a graduate/professional degree program (full-time)
- Minimum 3.00 college GPA
- Completed at least 12 college credit hours (dual enrollment and AP/IB credits accepted)
- U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or DACA recipient with a permanent address in Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr, or Willacy Counties
- High school diploma required
Application Requirements:
- Completed application form
- Essay (300–400 words) responding to the prompt: “Describe an issue or challenge in our community that you have addressed through your service or professional work. What has been your impact, and how do you plan on continuing this impact?”
- 1-page resume
- College transcript (unofficial or official)
Deadline: April 30, 2026 before midnight
